On 27-28 February 2019, the Twenty-eighth meeting of the Bureau of the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (hereinafter the Convention) chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by A.Zebeshev was held in Geneva (Switzerland) at the Palais des Nations.

During the meeting, the Bureau of the Convention considered issues related to discussing the implementation of the Strategy for implementation of the Convention at the global level, conducting national and regional events outside the UNECE region in order to promote the Convention and establishment of strategic partnerships with regional and global organizations.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the Convention program of work for 2019-2021. In addition, decisions of the Eighth Session of the Meeting of the Parties were discussed.

The Director of the International Water Assessment Center (IWAC) S. Akhmetov attended the meeting. In his presentation, he presented information on the progress in the implementation of the IWAC Program of Work for 2019.
