From 26 to 28 April 2021, the International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC) participated in the Third Joint Meeting of the Working Group on Integrated Water Resources Management and the Working Group on Monitoring and Assessment online.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the documents of the Ninth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Convention (29 September – 1 October 2021, Geneva, Switzerland), including the draft Work Programme of the Convention for 2022-2024 and the draft Work Program of the IWAC for 2022-2024.

Following the meeting, the Working Groups highly appreciated the work of the IWAC in 2019-2021. Kazakhstan was invited to support IWAC in developing a Work Programme for 2022-2024 and to submit it for approval at the Ninth session of the Parties. The Working Groups also took decisions on the draft Work Programme of the Convention for 2022-2024, the draft Guidelines on the allocation of Water Resources in a transboundary context, reporting on SDG target 6.5.2, and other issues.

The meeting was attended by experts from government agencies, the private sector, non-governmental and international organizations.
