On 27-28 February 2019, the Twenty-eighth meeting of the Bureau of the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (hereinafter the Convention) chaired by the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by A.Zebeshev was held in Geneva (Switzerland) at the Palais des Nations.
The 6th High Level Conference was organized with the EU-Central Asia Platform for Cooperation on Environment and Water Resources, includes the following priority areas as environmental management, climate change and water management.
As global momentum builds in support of transboundary water cooperation worldwide, more than 15 countries from outside the Pan-European region have announced their interest to ratify the Water Convention. These accessions can reinforce transboundary cooperation agreements all over the world, which is crucial, given that in most transboundary basins, cooperation is not fit to deal with the growing water crisis.
